Aim of the workshop

The objective of this conference is to bring together mathematicians working on Splines and Approximation Theory and thereby provide a forum for researchers in the field to discuss topics of current interest.

The two and a half days meeting is dedicated to Paul Sablonnière on the occasion of his retirement from INSA and his 65th birthday.

Scientific background

There is a strong demand for mathematical methods related to the representation of curves and surfaces. SAT 2013 concerns will thus include various fields in this domain: Approximation Theory, Computer Aided Geometric Design, Numerical Methods, Splines and related topics such as Multivariate Approximation, Wavelets, Subdivisions, Interpolation, Smoothing techniques, Splines, Radial Basis Functions, as well as applications in Geometric Modeling, Visualization and Mechanics.

There will be four invited, plenary talks (50mn) and we have room for 20 short communications (25mn) from the participants. The invited speakers are:

• Philippe Ciarlet, City University of Hong Kong,
• Dany Leviatan, Tel Aviv University, Israel,
• Carla Manni, Università di Roma “Tor Vergata”, Italy,
• Florian Méhats, Université de Rennes 1, France.

Venue

The conference will take place in INSA Rennes starting June 19th at 2 pm and finishing June 21th at 12:30 pm.

Miscellaneous

There are direct fast trains (TGV) from Paris-Montparnasse railway station or Paris - Charles de Gaulle Airport to Rennes (see Practical information -> Access menu).

There are direct buses from town center to INSA (see Practical information -> Access menu) and many hotels are located in town center (see Practical information -> Lodging menu).

There will be a registration fee of 100 Euros (50 Euros for students and retired participants) which includes three lunches, the cocktail on Wednesday evening and the coffee breaks.
